Olympic City Air started because we were fed up. Fed up with watching customers get talked into systems twice the size they needed. Fed up with the big franchise shops quoting $12,000 for what should’ve been a $7,000 job. Fed up with “service fees” that weren’t really service fees. Twenty years of combined field experience between us, a BBB A+ rating we actually earned, and a phone that gets answered by someone who knows the city.

If your AC cratered in the middle of a heatwave, if your heat pump’s been struggling since the first real cold snap hit, or if you’ve got one of those furnaces that rattles every morning and you’re pretending not to hear it, give us a call. We handle all of it. And yeah, we answer at 2 a.m. if that’s when things go sideways.

A Quick Look at Colorado Springs

Everyone who lives here already knows the basics, but for the folks reading, Colorado Springs is the second-largest city in the state, though it beats Denver in land area by a pretty wide margin. Somewhere around 500,000 people live inside the city limits now, and the full metro pulls toward 770,000 when you include everything out in Teller County and the far-flung east side. Denver’s about an hour and a half up I-25 on a good day, and a solid three on a bad one.

Elevation is what actually matters for our line of work. The city proper sits at 6,035 feet, which makes it the highest-elevation major city in the country that isn’t in Mexico. And here’s the thing a lot of folks miss: the elevation isn’t flat across town. Not even close. You drop toward Fountain, and you’re around 5,500 feet. Drive up to Black Forest, and you’re above 7,000. That 1,500-foot spread between one zip code and another means the heating load in a Black Forest cabin is genuinely nothing like the heating load in a Stetson Hills tract home. Same city, different planet.

The weather is its own conversation. Yes, 243 sunny days a year is the statistic everyone cites. Yes, it’s semi-arid, something like 15 inches of precipitation in a typical year. What nobody tells you until you live here is that a Chinook wind can swing the outdoor temperature forty degrees between breakfast and lunch, and that does things to your HVAC equipment. The lightning is another one. It’s gorgeous to watch from a porch, but it fries compressors and control boards every single summer, and we spend a good chunk of July and August replacing parts that got cooked by surges homeowners didn’t even realize happened.

And then there’s the housing. Colorado Springs has one of the strangest housing mixes in any American city I’ve worked in. You’ve got Victorian homes in Old Colorado City still running original ductwork from before the Second World War. You’ve got mid-century ranches in Broadmoor Bluffs and Patty Jewett with tight crawlspaces and narrow return chases. And then you’ve got the new master-planned stuff, Briargate, Wolf Ranch, Flying Horse, Banning Lewis Ranch, Cordera, where the homes are sealed so tight you can smell last night’s dinner three days later. Each era has its own set of HVAC quirks, and honestly, after this many service calls, you can almost guess the decade a house was built before you see the street address.

Our HVAC Services in Colorado Springs

Here’s what we do. Click through any of these to read the full version with pricing, timelines, and the Colorado Springs specifics.

Air Conditioning Services

Your AC has to deal with thin air, blowing plains dust from the east, dry heat that saps efficiency, and the occasional hailstorm that dings up the condenser fins. None of that is fatal if the system was sized correctly and serviced once a year, but most of what we see on repair calls comes down to one of those four things. Our air conditioning services cover central AC repair, seasonal tune-ups, coil cleaning, refrigerant work, thermostat replacements, and ductless mini-splits for homes that were never ducted. Flat-rate pricing, quoted before we start.

AC Repair

Your AC didn’t die on a Tuesday in May. It died at 3 p.m. on a Saturday in July, with people coming over for dinner. We get it. Our AC repair service handles all the usual suspects: dead capacitors, burnt contactors, refrigerant leaks, iced-over coils, fried control boards, bad blower motors, clogged drain lines, and thermostats that stopped talking to the system. We work on every major brand, we keep the trucks stocked with the parts that actually fail around here, and we fix most calls on the first visit. Same-day repair during the week, 24/7 on weekends.

AC Installation & Replacement

There comes a point where sinking another grand into a twelve-year-old system stops making sense. When that point is reached, we handle the entire replacement from front to back. We’re factory-trained Trane dealers, and we recommend Trane for most Colorado Springs homes because its units just hold up here. Every install starts with an actual Manual J load calculation, not a rule-of-thumb guess, and every system gets derated for altitude before it’s commissioned. That part alone is the difference between a system lasting 15 years and one limping along at 7. Free estimates, free second opinions, full permitting, and rebate paperwork handled.

Heat Pump Services & Replacements

The cold-climate heat pumps that have come out over the last several years have genuinely changed the game. One unit handles both heating and cooling, runs way cheaper than a gas furnace plus AC combo, and actually works down below zero if you buy the right model. Our heat pump services cover repair, seasonal tune-ups, and full new installs. The federal tax credit is up to $2,000 on qualifying units; Colorado has its own state credit stacked on top, and Colorado Springs Utilities has rebates that vary by system. We file all of it on your behalf because the paperwork is genuinely annoying and easy to mess up.

Indoor Air Quality

Wildfire smoke in the summer, winter inversions, dust in every season, and houses built tight enough to trap all of it inside. That’s the honest picture. Our indoor air quality work starts with actual testing, meaning we measure what’s in your air before we try to sell you anything. If the numbers come back fine, we’ll tell you that. If they don’t, we talk through filtration upgrades, whole-home HEPA purifiers, UV lights at the coil, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and we match the fix to the problem. Not the other way around.

Take a moment to read our customer reviews and see how consistently we deliver reliable service and real results for homeowners in your area.

Why Colorado Springs Homeowners Choose Olympic City Air

Look, there’s no shortage of HVAC companies in this town. Some of them are good. Some of them are fine. A few of them are the reasons people write angry Google reviews. We’re not trying to be the biggest shop in Colorado Springs, and we’re genuinely happier that way.

The tradeoff is that we can actually answer our own phone, we know our repeat customers’ names, and when a job needs a follow-up, we usually send the same tech back out, so you’re not re-explaining the problem to someone new.

A few things we’ll commit to, whether you hire us or not. We’ll quote flat-rate in writing before we do any work. We’ll give you a free second opinion on anyone else’s estimate, even if you end up going with them, because we’d rather you make the right call than the fast one. We answer the phone around the clock, the response window on emergencies is two hours, and yes, that holds on Christmas.

We’re BBB A+ rated and recognized by Angi. Our techs are factory-trained on Trane equipment and stay current with Colorado code. And the trucks are clean, the techs wear uniforms, the shoe covers come out before anyone walks on your carpet, and you’re not going to find a mystery charge on the final invoice.

We also cover Fountain, Security, Woodland Park, Peyton, Monument, and Black Forest. We keep the service area tight on purpose. Longer drives mean higher prices and tired techs, and neither of those things helps you.

FAQS

Your HVAC Questions, Answered

Find answers to common questions about HVAC service, maintenance, and installation in Colorado Springs.

Yeah, more than most folks expect. The air up here is thinner, which means every cooling or heating cycle moves less heat than the same system would at sea level. When a contractor from a low-altitude area sizes a unit using standard tables, the unit is usually undersized for Colorado Springs summers or winters. It'll run constantly, short-cycle, and burn out years earlier than the warranty suggests. Getting the altitude derating right is one of the quietest but most important parts of a good install.

Twice a year, ideally. Once in the spring, before you need cooling, and once in the fall, before you need heat. Dust, pollen, hard water, altitude wear, and plain old seasonal stress all hit systems hard around here. Heat pumps, especially, need twice-a-year visits because they run year-round and accumulate roughly twice as many hours as a regular furnace or AC. Skipping maintenance is the single biggest reason we see equipment fail early in the Springs.

Yes, any hour of any day. Middle of the night, weekend, holiday, doesn't matter. We'll have someone at your door within two hours of your call, and most of the time we'll fix it on that first visit because the trucks carry the parts that actually fail around here.

We install Trane because we trust it, and it holds up well in our climate. For service and repair, we work on pretty much everything residential: Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York, Bosch, Mitsubishi. If it's in your house, we can probably work on it.

There are, and they add up to real money. The federal tax credit covers 30% of qualifying high-efficiency systems, up to $2,000 on heat pumps and $600 on central air. Colorado has a separate state heat pump tax credit on top of that. Colorado Springs Utilities runs rebates that vary by equipment type. We file all the paperwork for you because that stuff gets denied constantly when homeowners try to submit it themselves after the fact.
